Snakes and leaches bothered me the most.  We slept on the ground with only a light nylon blanket so we were right down at their level.  There were pit vipors, cobras, small green tree vipors we called the two step snake (that's about how long it would take for you to die if they bit you).  You couldn't feel the leaches and didn't know they were on your body until you did a body check.

There were mosquitos by the billions and fire ants that would drop out of the rubber trees and bit until they were killed or physically removed.  Large back scorpions and ten inch long centipedes could give me the willies also.
