Seeking to correspond and/or interview African-American women who were in Vietnam

Jeanne Giaimis

I am in the process of researching material for a book that will detail the experiences African-American women had while in Vietnam anytime between 1954-1975.
In looking at various bibliographic materials, I noticed that little has been done to seek out these women who were either in the military as servicewomen or as nurses, or who worked in Vietnam in other capacities (working for humanitarian organizations, government organizations, etc).
As a member of the "Baby Boom Generation" and as a professionally trained historian, I would like for these women to have the opportunity to . share their stories not only with those of us who were not in Vietnam, but as importantly with younger generations for whom Vietnam seems to be "just another event" in our history.
I would appreciate this message being forwarded to anyone who might be able to assist me.
Please know that I can be reached either by email (giaimis@rutgers.edu) or at work: Rutgers University-Newark:973-353-3557
Thank you
