I joined the US Marine Corps in the fall of 1968, following a semester of college at New Mexico State University. After graduation from boot camp at MCRD San Diego, and Infantry Training Regiment at Camp Pendleton, California, I was sent to Marine Corps Base, Twentynine Palms, California. Although I had a computer programmer MOS (Military Occupational Specialty) I was assigned to work in supply.

I was ordered overseas and arrived in January, 1970. My orders were for the 1st Marine Division ground forces, but somehow, things got changed and they sent me to the 1st Marine Air Wing. I served with H&MS11, Marine Air Group 11, primarily at DaNang Airbase. My primary duties were supply related, although, like many Marines, I participated in everything from Mess Duty and Guard Duty to patrolling, perimeter defense, and Civic Action Programs among the villagers.

I returned to the United States in January, 1971, and following my leave I spent the next two years working in aircraft maintenance control with a Huey Helicopter squadron, HML-267, at Camp Pendleton, California.

I was discharged from the Marine Corps in January, 1973. I now live in Southern Colorado, and work in the property valuation field for local government.
