Born 1945 in Wheaton, Missouri. Married 1966 in Carthage, Missouri. Two children ages 28 and 23. BS in Ed from Pittsburg State Univ, Pittsburg, Kansas(1969). MS in Guidance/Counseling from Southwest Missouri State Univ, Springfield, Missouri.
Drafted into Army 18JUN69. BCT at Ft.Wood,MO and Inf AIT at Ft. Ord, CA. Tour of Duty in Vietnam(Nov'69-Apr'70 1st Inf Div and Apr'70-Nov '70 USARV). Dec'70-ETS 18JUN71 HQ TNG CMD at Ft. Wood, MO. Art teacher/athletic coach Jan'69-Jun'69; Aug'71-Jun'80; Graphic Artist/Instructor(private industry and univeristy) 1980-1982. High school guidance counselor and athletic coach Aug'82 to present.
Designed and written course unit on Vietnam War(received state ed award 1997).Currently writing unit on The Sixties. Artist sketches from Vietnam to be donated to Vietnam Archives at Texas Tech and LaSalle universities. Poems and short stories (Nam Tales) to be submitted later. Still artistic, mostly cartooning, local VFW has asked me to do mural depicting Spanish-Amarican,WWI, WWII, Korean,Vietnam,& Persian Gulf wars.
My dream for future project (after the VFW mural) is to do a series of drawings and paintings from Vietnam sketches, photo albums, etc. and put together a traveling exhibit of art by Vietnam veterans. I know this was done several years ago by a group of artists, but never heard about its success.
