BIO

Tom Hain.
Round Lake, IL

I was drafted into the Army in October 1967 and I arrived in Vietnam in April 1968. I was 20 years old when I was sent there. I was stationed in the Mekong Delta in Vietnam. I was part of the Mobile Riverine Force that was made up of both Army and Navy units. I served in Bravo and HHQ companies, 4th Battalion of the 47th Infantry, 9th Infantry Division. My MOS was 11B40, Light Weapons Infantry.

I started out as a rifleman in the second squad of the second platoon of Bravo Company. After a while I became the radio operator for my squad and moved up to platoon radio operator when that slot became available. I moved to Headquarters company when I became part of the battalion Tactical Operations Center crew, where I stayed untill I returned home in May 1969. I spent 13 months in Vietnam.
